While communities are coming together in efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus, disruptions in everyday life may create inconveniences, anxiety, and financial difficulty for our island. Credit unions were founded on the “people helping people” philosophy, and there is no greater time than now to live out that mission.
Your health and safety come first. We are doing our part at KGEFCU by following the recommendations of the CDC, Hawaii Department of Health, and the Kauai Mayor ‘s Office to help our employees remain safe in the workplace. This has led us to the decision of canceling our in-person Annual Meeting, which was to be held at Kauai Beach Resort this Saturday, March 21st. In place of the event, we will be holding our business meeting using online streaming, via Facebook Live. Find us on Facebook by searching the user name @kgefcu or www.facebook.com/kgefcu. We will be tuning in this Saturday, March 21, at 11:30 am.
We are allowing team members in some positions to work remotely to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. We are disinfecting our Lihue branch frequently, and advising all staff, volunteers, and members to stay home if they themselves are feeling ill, or if anyone in their family is ill.
Your financial well-being is important. KGEFCU has several ways to limit your exposure to coming into the branch, including online and mobile technology, ATMs, drive-through window, bill pay, call center, and direct deposit. We recognize the financial hardship that closed schools, canceled events, and a slowdown in business can put on your ‘ohana. If you are experiencing a change in your financial circumstances during efforts to contain coronavirus, contact KGEFCU and we will do our best to help. Services for you at this time may include options to temporarily skip loan payments, emergency loans, lower- interest credit cards, and financial counseling to help you make the decisions that are in your best interest.
As of now, our Lihue branch remains open. As things are changing rapidly please stay up to date with KGEFCU at our website www.kgefcu.org and social media at www.facebook.com/kgefcu or Instagram @kgefcu.
Below is a list of resources that we will be following for recommendations.
